SAM.gov Key

Shared key or your own: what to expect

Leave the SAM.gov API key blank and GovScout uses its own shared key. Every user who has not added a key draws from that same pool, for both live search and daily alerts. SAM.gov sets the request limit on each key, and it varies by account type, so we do not promise a daily number on a key we share.

For scale: each daily alert run checks up to 2 keywords across up to 3 NAICS codes, so up to 6 SAM.gov requests of 25 results each. That is light use. If the shared pool is busy, in-app search shows a "shared limit reached" message and you can retry later. An alert query that SAM.gov turns away is skipped, so that morning's email may have fewer matches than usual.

Paste your own key if you run several keywords, watch many NAICS codes, search a lot every day, or see that message twice. It is free, takes a few minutes at sam.gov/profile/details, and gives you limits that no other GovScout user shares. Add it in the alert form or under Business Profile.

Cert-mismatch leads (e.g., 8(a) only when you're SDVOSB) are automatically filtered out — not sent.
